Same price as AgentNotch, more agents answered from the notch
AgentNotch is the closest thing to CrewTower: the same $9.99, the same notch, approving in place and jumping to the session. The differences are in the details. CrewTower answers prompts for six agents where AgentNotch's latest notes name three, and its updates have no time limit where AgentNotch's licence covers twelve months. AgentNotch has the free trial, the token history and a few hosts CrewTower does not reach.
Where AgentNotch is better
You can try it first. Three days free with no card. CrewTower has an interactive demo on its website and no trial of the Mac app.
It keeps a token history. Today, 7-day and 30-day views with provider breakdowns and shareable charts. CrewTower keeps no history.
More usage meters. Claude, Codex, Cursor, Kimi and OpenCode Go, with a countdown that says how long your pace leaves you. CrewTower's covers Claude Code and Codex.
Hosts and agents CrewTower does not reach. Sessions in VS Code, Xcode and Conductor, Claude Cowork, Cursor Cloud Agents, Pi and LM Studio. CrewTower brings an editor forward and finds its window, which is less precise, and only detects Kimi while it runs.
Seat discounts. 10% off for two to four Macs, 15% for five to nine and 20% for ten or more. CrewTower is one license per Mac.
Possibly older Macs. Its pages state no minimum macOS, and its update feed lists macOS 14. CrewTower needs macOS 15.

Where CrewTower is different
Gemini CLI and Qwen Code too. CrewTower allows or denies Gemini CLI's and Qwen Code's tool calls and Cursor's shell and MCP calls from the notch, as well as Claude Code's, Codex's and opencode's. Gemini CLI and Qwen Code are not among AgentNotch's nine agents, and its 2.1 notes name Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode as the ones with controls for approval replies.
Updates do not stop after a year. CrewTower's license includes every update released after you buy it. AgentNotch's covers the twelve months after purchase; for later ones you buy a new licence.
Terminals AgentNotch does not list. Jump lands on the exact tab in Terminal, as well as iTerm2 (down to the split) and Ghostty; the pane in WezTerm, and in kitty with its remote control on; and the window in Alacritty, which has no tabs. A terminal it does not know can be taught with one line. How Jump finds the exact tab is written up terminal by terminal.
Plans and questions on the card. When Claude Code puts up a plan, the steps are on the card and you approve it or send it back from there; when it asks you to choose, the options are buttons.
A flag before you press. A shell command that deletes recursively, runs as root, forces past a safety check or pipes a download into a shell is called out on the card before you press Allow.
Which one to pick
AgentNotch if you work in VS Code, Xcode or Conductor, run Pi, LM Studio or Claude Cowork, want a token history, or want three days with the app before you pay.
CrewTower if you run Gemini CLI or Qwen Code and want to answer them from the notch, your terminal is Terminal, Kitty, WezTerm or Alacritty, or you would rather not buy the app again for next year's updates.
CodeIsland or Open Island if you would rather not pay: both are free and open source and answer prompts from the notch. Both are in the comparison table.
Both are independent products from independent developers. Nothing on this page is a claim about the other product's code; it is a comparison of what each site states publicly, and every row is checkable in a minute. AgentNotch's home page and pricing say $9.99, the figure used here, although some of its comparison pages still mention a one-time $19.
Questions
Does it also work if I have several Claude sessions running at once?
Yes. Every running Claude Code session gets its own card, in terminals and in the Claude app, and the ones waiting on you sort to the front. One card can also hold several requests at once, from the session and its subagents, each answered on its own.
On the card I only see “working”. Can I see what it is doing right now, like the last tool call or a progress line?
Yes. Press Activity on the card: it opens the last stretch of that session's transcript inside the card, what the agent said and what it ran, in order, newest at the bottom. For the agents CrewTower follows live, the line under the title also names the current step, and running subagents are listed beneath it.
How does it decide when to suggest compacting?
It suggests it for Claude Code only, and only at a task break: the turn has ended and Claude is waiting for your next prompt, not stopped on a question. The suggestion comes once the conversation passes about 300k tokens on a 1M window, or 60% of a smaller one (about 120k on 200k), and again after each further 100k. Close to Claude Code's own auto-compact point it says “auto-compact soon” instead.
Is it on Windows or Linux?
No. CrewTower is a Mac app and needs macOS 15 or later, on Apple silicon or Intel.
